I have always done plastic containers and We recommend it to others. The only thing they have suggested to use is use a standard ladies size shoebox or make sure your container is the same size as a standard ladies size shoebox. It's easy to shop for gifts we assume most little girls will like , but the truth is, shopping for a young woman is even more fun and fulfilling. Shoebox Ministry coordinates the collection and distribution of toiletry items in the Phoenix Metro area to those who are experiencing homelessness and others who need but can’t afford hygiene items. Samaritan’s Purse is a 501 tax-exempt charity. All contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects, and we may assess up to 10 percent to be used for administering the gift. Occasionally, we receive more contributions for a given project than can be wisely applied to that project.
This makes room for more gifts in the box, and it’s more economical because you can split items up between boxes, or team up with friends who are also packing boxes. Extra large shoeboxes limit the number of gifts that can be shipped in each large box which then increases shipping costs for the organization so I'd advise against anything too oversized. I'm not sure about the floss picks but given that they are generally single-use and made of plastic, I think regular floss is a more environmentally conscious idea. Shoes and undergarments are often considered luxuries in the countries where Operation Christmas Child distributes shoeboxes.
Similarly, shoes protect girls from parasitic diseases transmitted through contaminated soil and may be required as part of their school uniform. Hard candy.Of course we needed to include sweet treats (but this isn’t a very creative gift for an Operation Christmas Child shoebox). We bought a package of hard candies, individually wrapped. If you’re donating a shoebox, make sure you read the instructions. Soft, chewy candy isn’t acceptable – and either is chocolate or food. Squirt guns can be included as long as they do not look like real guns.
A well-made stuffed animal is a guaranteed shoebox hit regardless of age. This is one of my favorite gifts for the shoebox. I don’t know if Meeka can read English, but hopefully someone can translate the word “hope” for her.
